Well it's my birthday and you're not XX everyday. I remember in them olden days when I was maybe 25 I was a fit healthy fit (said that twice) skinny running machine. Another quarter of a century later and I'm more of a pudding eater than any kind of healthy fit running athlete. Oh how things have changed. Fortunately Sparkling Eyes has a new regime for me to get this blubber in shape, it's called gardening. After about six hours of it I taken a sneaky sit down because she is out of the house. I'm hoping if she is out a little longer I'll get a chance to play with Harvey (ukulele) because I'm getting withdrawal symptoms. Of course there is also Princess J who by her constant state of movement demands constant attention and watching, I'm the surrogate keep-an-eye-on Princess person. When there is no one else about its Pops to the baby sitting. So on a shop I and Princess J went round the aisles and shelves one way, whilst Rock Chick and Sparkling went another, Princess J led the way whilst I followed and tidied up after her. For dieting the idea is the more you move about the more calories are used up and little Princess is someone to keep you always on the move.
Even though I have told Sparkling since the last time I was up, I'd lost half a pound. She didn't believe this. The first words out of her mouth when I saw her yesterday was "Hello fatty" and this is the love of my life. I always keep my comments to myself when she has curlers in her hair, if I didn't then I'd be pushing up daisies and may I say a lot of daisies to.
Well it has been a great day, I saw Princess throw her food on the floor when she didn't like to eat it, well so much for salad and I can understand it. I witnessed Sparkling change my mind from going out for dinner to her cooking it, I saw L & B man turn into a very soppy smiley bloke just in the presences of Princess J, it has been a wonderful day for a fat lad who is XX years old.
A diary of events, interactions, thoughts and feelings I have in my life. Then understanding them with humorous affection.

Sparkling's got a birthday
It's Sparkling's birthday today, and here I sit in London while she sits in Scotland, and I miss her because this is probably the first time in 16 years I've not been with her on this day. I'll not say how old she is or even mention I could be considered as her toy boy in the circumstances, or only just in the circumstances. Which she finds annoying and then in eight months time a loud reminder comes when she says I am old. My birthday card which was sent by second class post arrived on time, which was great. I put an effort into the card as well, using a few coloured pens to draw little things on it and make it stand out as personalised. Sad but I enjoyed pimping her card. I had a little luck and managed to get a quick Skype call, during which Sparkles said I was looking old because there is grey in my beard. She always points this out, it seems to give her some satisfaction. The camera does not lie, but there are times when it would be nice if it lied just a little bit. Someone needs to invent software which automatically touches up the Skyped image, such as darkening grey beards, or hair and even taking away crows feet. Such software would be more valuable than a session with a plastic surgeon. I don't know why cosmetic surgeons are called plastic as well, possibly on account of all those people who purchase their services and do so by credit card. Or even because of the stretched plastic look skin takes when it has been pinned back. No such surgery for moi, I'm all natural and greying of course. You gets what you see, like the software.
Amazon was used to place an order for Sparkling's birthday present and it has not turned up. I should of realised it would take longer than expected these things always do. The problem is there are three parts to this item and from different sellers. I'll request Sparkling not open any one of them until all three are there but this could fall on deaf ears. On account of Sparkles has a low patience threshold and likes things done right away. It goes more so with presents, it is curiosity. Way too much of it.
A subsequent Skype to Sparkling and I find she has opened one parcel of three so has a very good idea of what her prezzy is. darn. Next year it will be a donkey, lets see how she feels about that.

Five minutes of being 50
There is now only five minutes between my 50th birthday and the 50 plus one day mark. The day was introduced with a glass of champagne in the company of Sparkling Eyes. It has been a bloody wonderful day, although we did get up late and it was difficult getting up out of bed. Even sunlight came through the blinds. During the day Rock Chick turned up with the ever so beautiful and demanding Babyfro. A baby who at the smallest whim has at least four adults running about after her, either cleaning up her delivery parcels or mopping up dribble. She is truly has a magical ability. I got to play with my ukulele, baby was hypnotized by it. Sparkling even did her best to be good to me all day and hardly told me off for being an idiot. She put away the disapproving stare which gets pulled out every so often. So in the next five minutes my birthday is over.
Shit, it's all down hill now.

Returning to Scotland for a 50th
Today I've traveled from London to Scotland, it was a hard journey because in my ruck sack there cradled with jeans were two bottles of Champagne. They had been presents and over which were never drunk and I've brought them to Scotland to share with Sparkling Eyes. Now I did actually have a couple of bottles in Scotland and Sparkling was to bring them with her to London on her 40th birthday, we were to drink them in celebration. However, the trip down to London from Scotland was a little boring and she was sat next to a handsome young Spanish University student. He was the tacit type and Sparkling saw this as a challenge to get him to open up. Of course it also meant she opened up the Champs. When Sparkling got off the train, she'd had the young man's phone number (allegedly) in her phone and she also was in a happy frame of mind. I took it on the chin as this is something I could of predicted, it didn't matter and anyway Sparkling said she didn't like Champs so it was all OK. the phone number I believe was never answered. Of course I would not do such a thing with these bottles and will enjoy them with Sparkles as I'm shortly to be 50 years old. Which it seems a lot of people like to remind me about, well at work they had.
It was arranged when I got off the train that L & B man would pick me up. He seemed to be in pretty happy mood as usual talking about his favourite subjects. I find I have to put an interpretation head on when he tells me about the discourse he's had. How he might disagree with someone, but he doesn't actually disagree at all, he just thinks it in his head. I had to ask him a number of times the question "did you actually say that?" at which he would cock his head to one side, give me the funny one eyed stare which he gives anyone who is being impertinent and he replies "no, I was thinking it." Now he may not get this, but thinking you are saying something is not the same as actually saying it. The two are completely different things altogether. Regardless his conversation makes you wish he had said what he was thinking because it would of been very interesting. He is probably hoping one day all these people he gets pissed off with will suddenly inherit the ability to mind read him. We had a pint in the pub and he actually seemed relaxed with his problems, suggesting we should stay the night and just get completely pissed.
Once at Sparkling's house I pulled out an old key to the back door and let myself in. She had lovingly prepared a portion of piri-piri chicken and baked potato portions. All I had to do was put them in the oven. Just as she had taken them out of the box. But they were very tasty indeed. She left a note telling me to get some wine, cat food and washing up liquid. Already on touch down my first duties were being given to me. Oliver (cat) came down to greet us and did nothing but seek attention by meowing and brushing himself against our legs. He's funny is Oliver, he has a way about bothering L & B man which in turn L & B pretends is a bother, but it's not really, no matter how much he swears at Olly it is affectionate swearing. It's his way of showing love, because all the bad thoughts he has he obviously keeps in his own head. He even asked if he should kidnap Olly, no doubt to take him home and show his family that someone loves him even though it licks it's arse with the same tongue it eats food with.
In the next few days I'll be 50, half a century old and it will be time to re-evaluate who I am and what I am. Maybe it is a crisis birthday as I see before me a man with a beard, looking somewhat more rugged than usual. What matters though is I'm here with Sparkling and an extended family I love very much.

Happy 21st Birthday to Rock Chick
I took my laptop to the pub after work, I had an important appointment. It was to see Sparkling Eyes, Rock Chick and Babyfro. Today Rock Chick is 21 years old. After waiting about an hour I eventually decided to Skype and got through. An earlier Skype call had been rejected as Babyfro was feeding. She is eating and peeing and pooping continuously. It has been a little over a week since I last saw her but again she looks different. Wow, how babies grow day by day. Especially when you don't get a chance to see them. The call got through and I chatted to Sparkling who looked very happy, she had put up some bunting for Rock Chick. I then got to chat to Rock and saw Babyfro. She was tired and had one eye just a little open. I asked Rock if she'd ever thought on her 21s birthday she'd be having a quiet night in with her baby and maybe watching a movie. She didn't think so and had rather considered she'd of been having a party. Like Sparkling, Rock Chick saw her self on cam and had to adjust the camera angle, because it wasn't to her liking. I could see Rock Chick was happy though, a kind of contented look was on her face. Perhaps this was to do with the fact she might be the baby food machine, but it was Daddy Dangerous who was the major poop, nappy changer. She seemed to think she got off lightly earlier in the day, when Babyfro had filled a nappy with a right stinker. This seems to be the thing babies do, feed, pee, poo and very slowly interact with the world. Momma Rock is definitely Dangerous Daddy is so hands on. Awwwe. Dangerous poopman Daddy lol. Which is a lot different from doing stunts on a BMX bike, rock climbing, or skateboarding tricks. Dangerous is getting to grow and mature to the nth degree. In no time he'll have got the art of stinky nappy changing off to a fine art.
So Rock Chick, a very wonderful happy birthday to you, I miss you all and go and treat yourself to a glass of wine, I'm sure you deserve one.

A Birthday and some feisty forces
It's my birthday today, and I have opened up two cards. Another year has passed and it is odd how opening up a card can incur sentiment, it just does. Unfortunately today I am not in the company of Sparkling and for about 15 years every birthday has usually been greeted by her. He big hug is wonderful, but I will be going to see her next week and I know she will give me a hug then. How much I love her can not be defined because there is no scale for it. It is good to wake up and be thinking about someone and during the day there will be thoughts of Sparkling. So I really do look forward to next week.
Rock Chick is pregnant. She says it feels different than before, already she has been put on lighter duties at work. I would think Dangerous Sports Lad will shortly have to acclimatise to his responsibilities as a father and provider. Another is to not spend all night playing on a games consul. I know they will get through their differences and tiffs, because they love each other very much. If Dangerous doesn't pull his socks up; Rock she will kick his arse around the flat (apartment) until he does. Rock likes to be in control of things, and he'll have little in the way of alternatives. I'm sure he has felt the wrath of Rock but the emotions of a pregnant woman run higher than a non pregnant one. Further, there is the spectre of being on Sparkling's dark side. Sparkling is a very feisty woman, and her passions as a mother to protect Rock Chick and kick Dangerous up the arse are highly versatile. She expressed these to me on the phone and as I listened my phone grew hot in my hand. It was either this or the bad night's sleep she got. He doesn't know it but there is a great force in movement, a force even Star Wars would be wary of encountering and Darth Vader would avoid.
So today my intentions are to take things easy. I'm going into the Fish Factory later than usual and the annoyances I have with other persons will be held in controlled abeyance. Until my very own passionate force has it's chance to kick some arse. There's obviously a common thread here.
As the saying goes, may the force be with you.
